First off, I'm sorry about the lack of posting on this site. I've been off to school for the summer.
Anyway, I spoke to the owner of the Gahan House Brewery I used to work at in Charlottetown, and he said we could have some free beer! Not sure how much, but it will be free to all registered riders and it will kick ass. So who ever comes to this race will be in for a treat. More good news to come soon. Registration is now available for all! Click on the CPEI link to the right and find "events", click the desired race, and away you go. It would be interesting to have a little contest to see what province or territory has the most single speeders and to see which one has the fastest racers on average. So get your friends in on the competition quick because the first 100 registered racers will be guaranteed a sweet T-shirt designed by yours truly.

Dear readers,
It is very important that you know what this race is all about before booking your plane tickets, getting time off work ect...
This is not a serious event by any means. There is no cash prize. I dont even think there will be a podium unless you count standing on a 50 l keg at a bar. But you won't even have to win to do that. Nope, no money. But count on something better than cash. Something very awesome is in the works right now.
Also, being the kind of guy who enjoys suffering as much as fun, I plan on making a course with enough technical climbing and also a good amount of flowy joy filled easy sections to rest your legs. But be on the look out for mud pits, cyclocross style obsticles, and maybe some barbed wire seeing as PEI is 70% farm land.
And don't even think of showing up if you dont like live music, weird people, or beer. I mean, we won't force feed it to you, but I expect there to be lots of locally made craft ales available.
So there ya go. Take it or leave it. I understand if this isn't for you, but if it is, I gua-ran-T you will remember the 26th of September. (unless you were drunk in which case I will send you pictures of how much fun you had)

Cold, wet, and hungry

So, it's 10:00 AM, and I'm eating some scones and coffee thinikng it's about bluddy time I post something for you to read until your next ride.

Well, I gotta tell you that the anual new years day ride was spectacular. A bunch of us meet at a little cross country skii hut in the northern part of the province. We all bring food( espresso, waffles, sausages, etc etc...), go for an hour ride on desserted streets and come back to the hut for good eating. The only thing better on new years day at 11 am would be sleep or more beer!

OK, so it's Christmas eh! Here's my list in classic Bob and Doug style.

On the first day of christmas my true love gave to me:
A single speed race on PEI.

On the second day of christmas my true love gave to me:
two knobby tires, and a single speed race on PEI

On the third day of christmas my true love gave to me:
three French chicks, two knobby tires, and a single speed race on PEI

On the fourth day of christmas my true love gave to me:
four wool jerseys, three french chicks, two knobby tires, and a single speed race on PEI!

On the fifth day of X mas, my true love gave to me: 5 cold beer kegs!, four wool jerseys, three french chicks, two knobby tires, and a SS race on PEI

On the sixth day of X mas, my true love gave to me: Six packs a chuggin, Five coldbeer kegs , four wool jerseys, three french chicks, two knobby tires, and a SS race on PEi!

On the seventh day of christmas my true love gave to me: seven psycho friends, six packs a chugging, FIVE COLD BEER KEGS!, four wool jerseys, three french chicks, two knobby tires, and a single speed race on PEI

The Date is Set for CSSC 2010!

We thought about, and it seems like the right month for this event shall be September. The date shall be the 26th for the race with other fun on the 25th. Sound good? Cool. Lets get ready then.

There Will be a Race!

After losing a singing contest at the 2009 Durango sswc, I discovered that I would not host the 2010 single speed worlds for the first time in Canada. However, a lot of people at that event said that I should organise a Canadian SS race on my home town turf(Prince Edward Island). So I proposed the idea to Cycling PEI, and they seem down for a whole mess of fun next year. Exact dates are soon to be set, but for now its looking like mid September, 2010.
